Narrative

once upon a time, in a small village somewhere across the sea, lived a boy named Tom. Tom was basically a nice boy. he is friendly, always smiling and love animals, so thats why he has so many friends. But, it wasnt a secret at that time that Tom is a tight-fisted person. but because of his friendly personality and all, everybody still liked him anyway. but not this old witch who lived in the forest. one time, this witch saw Tom rejected to give a poor little girl half of his fresh-from-the-oven bread, even though that little girl said that she hasnt ate anything for the past three days. Tom shouted at that little girl that he will not give the bread to anyone, includes that little girl. not in million years. Since that accident, the witch has always been thinking every ways to give Tom a lesson.

so, one day, Tom was on his way home from school. It was a sunny day, so Tom decided to sit around the garden for a while. and suddenly, a beautiful girl came to Tom, probably the most beautiful girl that Tom has ever seen. she wore a dirty dress and she was barefoot. Tom was really confused, he didnt know who this beautiful girl was, when suddenly that girl said 'do you have any food? i havent ate anything'. At that time, Tom actually had 2 slices of cheesecake in his bag, but he felt like not sharing it to anyone. he wants to eat those two slices of heaven all by himself. but, then Tom gave the girl a slice of cheesecake and hide the other one. then the girl said, 'Thank You!" and eat the cheesecake happily. when the girl has done eating the cheesecake, she asked once again 'do you have other food? im still hungry' the girl said while looking at her stomach. Tom knew that the girl was really hungry, because the look on the girl's face said a really bad starvation, but still Tom wont giving the other slice to the girl, so he lied. "no"

'ah. okay then, thanks for the cake' said the girl. then suddenly the girl turned into a fairy, a beautiful fairy. 'hai, thanks for helping me minutes ago. so do you have any wish? maybe its the only way for me to say thank you to you' said the fairy. Tom was so surprised and happy at the same time, he started to think the wish. then remembered, he always wanted a bike for so long but his mother wont buy it for him cause a bike is just too expensive. 'a bike' tom said. then the fairy said something like a spell, and......... ta-da! a bike came out of nowhere. Tom was beyond happy when seeing that he finally got a bike, but he was angry when seeing that the fairy gave him only a half bike. so the front part of the bike was there, but the rest was gone. 'i want a bike. not this thing. what is this? a half bike?' tom said angrily. then the fairy smiled, and told Tom 'you only gave me half of your food, and i gave you half of your dream bike, isnt that even?'. Tom had nothing to say. he was shocked. he was speechless. then, second later, the fairy was gone. Tom felt so upset, he never knew that his tight-fisted habit is annoying. Then, with tears running down his face, tom went home, leaving his half bike behind.

somewhere in the forest, the fairy turned herself into an old witch again. she smiled and feel satisified after giving Tom a lesson.

FOOD.

so a few days ago, we did some research on students in our class.
what research, you may ask?

this is the report on a survey that we spread among the students in our class. in this report we brought you to the topic of "which one do you like the most?". this survey was made in order to finding out the students interests on food and several restaurants around jakarta. we also investigated their own favorite dishes in those restaurants.
40% of the students that we interviewed picked sushi ya as their favorite restaurant. 33% picked pancious and 26% of them picked bakerzin. almost 50% of them rarely go to those restaurants. few of them said that is because the price is too high for the students, or other said that the restaurant is too far from home.
students who picked sushi ya said that they go to that restaurant quite often. its because sushi ya is not too far from school, so they can go there right after school and has reasonable price that most of them can afford. most of students said that they usually go to the bakerzin or pancious with their parents because of the price, but they usually go to sushi ya with their friends. even though sushi ya got number one for favorite restaurant, but the students still prefer pasta as their favorite food than sushi or pancakes.
from this survey we must say that we werent really surprised by the fact that more than half of the students in our class picked sushi ya as their favorite restaurants (since we are also the students, so we are not that different from them :p) , because sushi ya is one of the nearest restaurant from our school that sells nice sushi with cheap price (around 3$-6$), eventhough most of them still prefer pasta.

Walk A Mile In Her Shoes.

let me ask you something.
what do you think when you see this picture
maybe youll think "this is a girl or a woman wearing high heeled shoes. whats so weird about it?"
yes, there is nothing weird about it cause she is just wearing her shoes.
and how about this picture, what do you think about it?
..........this is a picture of a guy wearing high heeled shoes, which is really weird because usually the ones who wear high heeled shoes are girls. but, hey, those guys wear this high heeled shoes on a purpose. surprisingly, a humanly good purpose.
do you know there is an old saying like this:
"You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes."
mark the last three words. in. their. shoes.
they (yeah, the boys) wear that high heeled shoes in order to understand what us, girls have been through.
in USA, there is a community called Walk A Mile In Her Shoes. so, what do they do and do they have connection with that picture above?
Walk A Mile In Her Shoes is a movement of thousands of men raising millions of dollars to support local rape crisis services and remedations to sexualized violence. how can they raise millions of dollars? by walking in our shoes, girls! so those men LITERALLY walk a mile in that high heeled shoes, which is not easy (of course) and really uncomfortable. but, its fun and it gets the community to talk something that is really hard to talk about, gender relations and sexual violence. they (and us) can get so many good thing from this about sexual violence, which right now is a big issue. for preventive education, it helps man to be more understand and appreciate women's experiences, which will change the perspectives and helping improve gender relationships and decrease the potential for violence. and, with this, they tell that service is available for recovery. so men are able to be a courageous partners with women in order making the world a safer place.
this thing is really one of a kind. its not easy to get people who cares about this sexual violence issue and do something about it. walk a mile in girls shoes is not WEIRD. its actually sweet and i think every girls in the world will appreciate this movement.

how hard can it be, people?

have you seen this beautiful movie titled "UP"?
this movie tells us about an adventure of an old man with a little boy (who is quite annoying haha)  in a flying house. i mean like, literally flying, with lots of balloons on top of it. so, with this flying house, they have a totally unforgettable adventure. so, maybe, we all think when we watch this is: "ah this movie is so good" "great story" "gosh, can i bring russel home?" etc.

well, but not for these people at national geographic. when they all watch the movie and see the flying house, they all think this:
"how hard can it be to make a flying house? it is ALMOST possible"
so....... they (folks from national geographic) tried to make a REAL flying house.

and they SUCCEED. can you believe it? a flying house with BALLOONS. balloons. wow, just simply wow.
so... lets see how it goes.

so this one is the animated flying house from the movie
and this one... is the real flying house that people from national geographic made....
so this house was launched a few weeks ago, on March 5 to be exact. this flying house set a new world record for the largest balloon cluster flight ever attempted. The entire experimental aircraft was more than 10 stories high, reached an altitude of over 10,000 feet, and flew for approximately one hour.

and dont worry, this house is safely landed ;)
you can watch how they made the house here
or if you need more infos/photos you can see it here too click
